What is Oni? Oni is a third-person action game, created by the programmer
team Bungie. Don't read further if you plan to play the game for the
first time without wanting to know the plot now. Contains big spoilers!!
You play as Konoko, a TCTF special agent. She was found as a small girl
along with her uncle, Dr. Kerr, during a raid on a secret laboratory
owned by the Syndicate. Adopted by the TCTF, she began to train and
work as a TCTF agent under the command of Commander Griffin. But what
Konoko doesn't know is that during the raid she was found, her father,
who was forced to work for the Syndicate with Dr. Kerr, was able to
escape with her brother Muro. The thing they were working on was a Daodan
Crysalis. The Syndicate forced Konoko's father to implant one of the
Daodan Crysalises into Muro and Griffin wanted to make sure to have
a match for anything the Crysalis would create, so he ordered Dr. Kerr
to implant the second Crysalis into Konoko. Now Konoko's abilities are
enhanced by the chrysalis in her body and she is directly neuraly linked
with Shinatama, an android SLD created to monitor the growth of Crysalis
inside Konoko. Oni is a story of mistrust, search for the the truth
and revealing the past of Konoko as well as her real identity. The game
somewhat resembles Ghost in the Shell.
In short Oni is a great third-person action game with
a good storyline. The game is mainly based on hand-to-hand action, but
is also supported by a lot of gun shooting. This together creates intensive
action gaming experience. The story deliveres unexpecting turnovers
that keep you going and going 'till the end. And even after the end
you are rewarded by the main character shape-shifting ability, thus
replayability is excellent. So with all these good things mixed together,
if I should rate Oni, I would give it at least: 9/10. (The only
turndown is that the opponents are now too easy for me, I would love
a secret higher skill level)
